GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sandoval County local governments and entities will receive about $42.8 million in capital outlay funding this year for projects including a new fire station in Bernalillo, an animal shelter, and water system upgrades in Corrales and Cuba. The bill passed the House and Senate and now awaits Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s signature—she may sign it as a whole or use line-item vetoes. Sandoval Signpost
- ➤ The City of Rio Rancho announced its annual outdoor watering restrictions that will run from April 1 to October 31—spray irrigation is prohibited from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. while hand watering is allowed and exceptions apply for dust control, drip irrigation and containerized plants. REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Housing New Mexico and the state Department of Finance Administration announced a new program called Rehab-2-Rental that will give loans to landlords who rent properties to tenants with housing vouchers—loans that will pay for repairs to make homes ready for rent. The initiative is expected to help increase the number of affordable rental units. KOAT

- ➤ University of New Mexico men's basketball coach Richard Pitino will be the next head coach at Xavier after leading the Lobos to NCAA tournaments in 2024 and 2025 and a Mountain West title with a 17-3 record in conference play. He earned Mountain West coach of the year honors, finished with an 88-49 record, and will replace Sean Miller. KOAT
