CULTURE NEWS

  • Texas Camel Corps will be at the Coronado Historic Site in Bernalillo on April 12 at 10 a.m.—the event is hosted by New Mexico Historic Sites and The Friends of Coronado and Jemez Historic Sites. Families will enjoy hands-on activities such as tinsmith, pottery, silversmith and leather work demonstrations plus a talk by Texas Camel Corps owner Doug Baum; tickets cost $10 per person with free entry for children 16 and younger and select groups.  Sandoval Signpost

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • U.S. Eagle Credit Union announced a plan with Tree New Mexico to help the environment by offering eStatements instead of paper ones. The plan will start April 2 and run through Earth Day on April 22—money saved will be donated to help plant trees.  Sandoval Signpost

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Former Las Cruces mayor Ken Miyagashima—a veteran with over 20 years of government experience—said he intends to run for governor and formed an exploratory committee to build statewide support. He will assemble his campaign team and officially announce his bid in the coming months.  KOAT
