GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sandoval County Treasurer Jennifer Taylor announced on March 31 that the Junior Treasurer’s Program will now offer high school elective credit to juniors and seniors from the county, and four students will be selected based on 200-word essays due by May 16. The semester-long program begins in August and requires 90 hours of on-the-job shadowing to provide hands-on experience in local government — with participants earning plaques and medallions upon completion. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Today at the Davalos Center, UNM introduced new men’s head basketball coach Eric Olen—who came from UC San Diego where he led the Tritons to an NCAA Tournament appearance—and he takes over a rebuilding program after head coach Richard Pitino’s departure and key player Donovan Dent’s move to the transfer portal. Athletic director Fernando Lovo said Olen is the second major hire following the recent replacement of head football coach Bronco Mendenhall and vowed to build a winning team. KOAT
