CULTURE NEWS

  • Rio Rancho Public Schools will host its 17th annual Pow Wow at Rio Rancho High School gym on April 12 from noon to 6 p.m. The free event will include dancing, drumming and food trucks offering traditional Native American foods while honoring local culture with presentations by MC Aaron Fry and arena director Terry Pecos.  Sandoval Signpost

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham signed the Turquoise Alert System into law to improve rapid response for missing Native Americans (SB 41). Jason R Bowie from the New Mexico Department of Public Safety said the new law will help focus search efforts in the first 48 hours and makes New Mexico the fourth state with such a system.  KOAT
