- ➤ Senate Bill 364 now lets legal immigrants and DACA recipients apply for police jobs; it may help the Albuquerque Police Department grow from about 900 officers toward its target of 1,200 and gives New Mexico a competitive edge over states that do not offer the same chance. State Senator Cindy Nava—a DACA recipient—stated the bipartisan law aims to boost public safety while keeping hiring standards high. KOAT
