- ➤ Roadrunner Foodbank said cuts to federal funding removed 24 truck loads of food that would have provided about 4 to 5 million meals for local families—VP Katy Anderson noted $1 million in funds were lost in March when federal food programs were cut. Donations now cover only 25% of the food distributed, compared to 75% in 2014, as the food bank faces a tight budget and rising costs. KOAT
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ APD reported a rise in copper thefts near cellphone towers and air conditioning units and urged locals to call 242—COPS if they saw suspicious activity at a shopping center near Highway 528 and 550 where Turquoise Desert Taproom was hit twice since January, forcing a closure with losses of about $30,000 and $6,000—officials said thieves resold the stolen copper to metal recycling yards.
