COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Trail Rider Pizza in Cedar Crest will host a fundraiser on May 5 from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. to support local studio owner Christell Thomas—who is recovering from a traumatic accident. A percentage of the day’s sales will go to her healing fund.  Sandoval Signpost

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Several advocacy groups—including EMPAC, TTRA and Puertocito-Golden Ranchers—filed an appeal in the 13th Judicial District Court on April 3 against Sandoval County’s decision to change zoning for the 1,833-acre Diamond Tail Solar and Storage Project in the East Mountains. The appeal comes after a 3—2 vote approved the project, which PCR Investments plans to develop into a 220—megawatt solar plant with 110—MW battery storage.  Sandoval Signpost
  • Construction crews began work on Meadowlark Lane in Corrales this week—an overhaul nearly twenty years in the making—that is redirecting traffic in Rio Rancho as closures on Loma Larga and Sara Road force drivers to take alternate routes. Public works officials say the road closure will last about four weeks and advise drivers to follow posted signs.  Sandoval Signpost
