A Santa Ana police officer named Kristofer Martin was arrested for aggravated DWI on Thursday night after Rio Rancho police stopped him in Corrales Heights during a welfare check and he admitted to drinking three shots before his breath test registered 0.16 & he was taken to the Sandoval County Detention Center while remaining employed with his department.

Rio Rancho saw a 16% drop in reported crime from 2022 to 2024 as offenses fell from 8,681 to 7,283—declining in both violent and property crimes.
