Forecasters said Hurricane Lorena weakened to a tropical storm on Thursday but still threatened parts of Mexico's west coast with life-threatening flash floods and mudslides.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center issued watches for heavy rain in New Mexico + Arizona that could lead to scattered flash flooding today.
