  • Starting Friday, New Mexico Gas Company will offer digital payment options—such as online wallets, card payments, and an automated phone system—to help customers pay their gas bills, while lowering residential fees from $1.95 to $1.75. Online and phone payments will be offline from 6 p.m. Thursday until 9 a.m. Friday as the system updates.  KOAT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Rio Rancho public school board approved an updated substance abuse policy last night—school staff must now immediately report any student use of alcohol, illegal drugs or mood-altering substances, and the policy protects employees who report in good faith. This change aligns with state law and lists the specific substances to be reported.  KOAT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • New Mexico Attorney General Raul Torrez condemned Monday’s Supreme Court ruling that allows ICE to use appearance—language and location as factors when stopping people, saying the decision ignores constitutional rights and could lead to more racial profiling in states with many Hispanic residents.  KOAT

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dr. Ash from KOAT said high blood pressure shows no symptoms yet can cause heart disease, kidney disease, stroke and dementia, so doctors now advise patients to start with healthy changes like eating more fruits and vegetables and reducing salt—following the DASH diet—before using medicine if needed.  KOAT
