ECONOMY NEWS

  • State regulators approved an agreement for PNM that will add $6.23 to residential bills in July and another $6.23 in April next year—bringing in $105 million to help replace aging infrastructure and boost the Good Neighbor Fund for low-income customers.  Sandoval Signpost

HEALTH NEWS

  • The New Mexico Department of Health confirmed the first measles cases in Sandoval County today, involving an adult with unknown vaccination status and an unvaccinated child under 4. Officials identified exposure events at the Presbyterian Rust Hospital Emergency Department in Rio Rancho on April 30 from noon to 5:30 p.m. and May 11 from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Hematology/Oncology Clinic on May 1 from 2 to 4:30 p.m., at Trader Joe’s in Albuquerque on May 6 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and at Ribs Hickory Pit BBQ in Cedar Crest on May 10 from noon to 3 p.m.—they advised anyone exposed to check vaccination records and seek care if symptoms develop.  Sandoval Signpost

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • As the weather gets hotter, HVAC experts say Rio Rancho homeowners should inspect their swamp coolers and AC units to avoid leaks and damage by checking filters, pads, pumps and floats—measures that help prevent costly repairs. They warn that switching from a swamp cooler to an AC unit requires using a licensed, bonded and insured professional, and note that swamp coolers can use up to 10,000 gallons of water each season.  KOAT

SPORTS NEWS

  • REV Entertainment announced that the New Mexico Pro Hockey Club will join the ECHL and play at the Rio Rancho Events Center with the first game planned for October 2026; local fans can submit name ideas while team manager Jared Johnson and local investors set up the club—marking a new chapter for pro hockey in Rio Rancho.  Sandoval Signpost
